An overview of analgesic agents that can be used for pain management and as part of balanced anaesthetic regimens.\nManaging and monitoring anaesthesia – Making sure anaesthesia is as safe and effective as possible\, what monitoring devices are available and how can they best be used in rodents and rabbits.\nDealing with problems and emergencies – What to do when things go wrong – and how to prevent problems happening.\nManaging long-term anaesthesia – A review of the difficulties associated with prolonged anaesthesia\, the advantages and disadvantages of specific anaesthetic agents.\nWorking with neonatal and aged animals – Specific issues related to anaesthesia and perioperative care of neonatal animals and aged animals.\nPost-operative care – Providing supportive post-operative care\, including management of post-operative pain.\nInteractive sessions: managing laboratory animal anaesthesia – These sessions will use a scenario-based approach to encourage participants to apply their knowledge and understanding of anaesthesia to solve a number of different problems.
