The website ‘Assessing the Health and Welfare of Laboratory Animals‘ previously found at www.ahwla.org.uk was closed down in May 2021.

The site was developed and launched in 2005 with financial support from the Swiss 3R Research Foundation.

The website contained three tutorials as detailed below.


BVA-AWF Practical Animal Handling

A tutorial originally produced by BVA-AWF. Expert veterinary staff demonstrating the correct procedures for handling small mammals for clinical examination and medication. Its aim was to show that the primary consideration should be for the welfare of the animal.
